Weddings to Malcesine

To marry in a castle steeped in an atmosphere of times gone by has become the latest trend in all things matrimonial.

Many are the couples willing to put themselves out just to seek out castles, fortresses and period villas where they can exchange the fateful “I do”. A fashion which initially affected foreigners : English, Germans, Americans and New Zealanders charmed by the beauties of our country, choose fantasy locations to celebrate their wedding or simple vows of love. But more and more are the Italians who prefer places full of charm and history for their wedding reception.

Last year, for example, between May and September 240 weddings were celebrated in the Castello di Malcesine , almost 20 weddings a month. Full of enchantment, the Castello di Malcesine, built into the living rock with battlements, sits in a very evocative position on the banks of the lake which inspired Goethe: the wedding hall is actually at the very top and from up there the view is truly spectacular.
